What the Buddha Taught Class 4: Buddhist Psychology, the Five Skandhas
with Elaine Yuen / April 20 2024 from 10 am to 4 pm

Buddhists have long examined the workings of the mind uncovered through the practice of meditation.  Join me in this one-day retreat/workshop where we will study key aspects of how mind is viewed in the Buddhist teachings.  Skandhas (Sanskrit) or khandhas (Pāḷi) are often translated as "heaps, aggregates, collections, groupings."  The Five Skandhas, a key Buddhist teaching of the Abhidharma, present a view of how our impulses, emotions, and sense perceptions interact to form our lived, moment-to-moment experience.  In this class we will study the Five Skandhas as they are traditionally taught, as well as explore their meaning through experiential exercises.
