BAGELS AND DHARMA - Something Old, Something New: Be At the Party Happening Now

with Jean Plough

December 30th (2018)

    Room: Windhorse

Meditation trains us to open and notice the old habitual patterns which create the fabric of “me”.  We learn to become more aware of patterns that keep us from being present. Being here now involves seeing our confusion more clearly. We start noticing when we’re closing down, when we’re being ungenuine, careless or crude. There is a meditation exercise that involves the image of our thoughts as guests coming to a party. First we greet and acknowledge them, and then we let them go, and come back to our job of being the host. As we train in coming back to our breath, what’s slowly coming into being is our awakened mind and heart. We can learn to enter the world with softness and sensitivity instead of the old heaviness of ego and habit.

Join us for meditation from 9:00 to 10:30 (optional), followed by the dharma talk  "Something Old, Something New: Be At the Party Happening Now" by senior teacher Jean Plough from 10:30 to 11:30, and bagels, coffee, and conversation from 11:30 to 12:00.

This program is open to the public.

There is no fee to attend, but a donation of $2-$5 is requested.
