    Room: Main Shrine Room

Kindness is non complicated or transcendent. "Ordinary" means uncomplicated. There are no strategies involved. Kindness is simply exhanging oneself with another. An enlightened society is based on this simple exchange.

Join us for meditation from 9:00 to 10:30 (completely optional), followed by a talk on "Ordinary Kindness" by Shastri Tom Berthoff from 10:30 to 11:15, and bagels, coffee, and conversation from 11:15 to 12:00.

All are welcome.  There is no fee to attend, but a donation of $2-$5 is requested.

Contact Ellen if you have any questions.  [email protected]

"I’ve been presenting the notion of society as really being just two human beings communicating at a personal, familial, community level. And especially this year, this can be manifested simply as the three things that we are celebrating — food, conversation and meditation. And I certainly hope that you are able to participate today in these foundational elements of our enlightened society: the richness of nutrition, food, and communication as we connect with each other through conversation, and by strengthening our minds through the practice of meditation."   Sakyong Mipham, Harvest of Peace Address, 2013
