The Power of Engagement
Meditation and the Path of True Perception

True Perception, the title of Chogyam Trungpa's unique presentation of how to engage one's sense perception in everyday life, forms the dharma underpinnings of this full day of formal and informal practice.

Please join practitioners, artists, and educators Shastri Alexander deVaron and Joann Doneen Herson in this rich exploration of our senses. This day of contemplation, meditation and sensory exercises can bring clarity to the ongoing quest  of " how to bring practice into daily activities".

No need to worry about zoom overload: each session will have times when you don't have to face the computer as well as times when you can leave the room altogether.

The day will be a mix of:
• Guided and silent meditation practice

• Exercises exploring the senses
• Guided movement
• Brief talks

Schedule:
9:00 to 12:00
1:30 to 3:00
3:30 to 5:00

Shastri Alexander deVaron began meditating in 1980, and studying in Shambhala in 1982. He met Chögyam Trungpa in 1985, and was empowered as both a teacher and meditation instructor in 1986. From 1991 to 1996 he lived at Karmê Chöling retreat center, serving in the practice and study department. In addition to teaching in Shambhala, he has taught stress management programs for the Penn Program for Mindfulness, and currently teaches music at Temple University. In 2010, Sakyong Mipham appointed him the Shastri (senior teacher) of the Philadelphia Shambhala Center.

Joann Doneen Herson,  a dharma practicioner and visual artist, is a long time member and former Director of the Philadelphia Shambhala Center. She has studied with both Shambhala and Ningma teachers and maintains a visual Art discipline. Her recent inspiration includes teaching the contemplative path of Shambhala Art and connecting with people interested in studying and practicing dharma and meditation.
Please join her in the discussion, exploration, and practice of the 3 foundational principles of all Dharma: Discipline, Meditation and Wisdom.
