The Four Fours: Foundational Buddhist Teachings

To be successful on the Buddhist Path entails combining practice and study of the teachings of this journey as it unfolds to the practitioner in knowledge (intellectual understanding) and direct experience (wisdom of one’s nature). Although, it is said that the Vajrayana Teachings contain the wisdom of both the Hinayana and the Mahayana Paths, one must begin at the beginning, slowly and carefully ripening one's understanding, practice and realization. The focus of this weekend program is the introduction to the teachings and wisdom of the Four Noble Truths, the Four Foundations of Mindfulness, the Four Marks of View and the Four Immeasurables (Four Limitless Ones).  Taken as a whole, these “Four Fours” provide a foundational base for both students new to the path and those who want to deepen their understanding and experience.

The program will be taught by Jonathan Herson, a student of Chogyam Trungpa, Rinpoche and Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. Mr. Herson has been a student and teacher for over 40 years, and has been fortunate to receive teachings from some of the great Kagyu and Nyingma masters of our age. He is currently a member of the lead group studying and practicing the Scorpion Seal Teachings.
