Join us in celebrating International Contemplative Dance Practice Day and Barbara Dilley's 80th Birthday. On Tuesday, March 13th the Philadelphia Shambhala Center will host a public practice and reception. You are welcome to come learn about the practice, practice with the group, or observe the practice. Light refreshments will be served.

Barbara Dilley, a dancer and educator, was a prominent member of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company (1963-1968), and with the groundbreaking dance and performance ensemble The Grand Union (1969 to 1976). A student of Chögyam Trungpa and Sakyong Mipham, she has taught movement and dance at Naropa University since 1974, developing a pedagogy of Contemplative Dance Practice that emphasizes embodied awareness, combining dance and movement studies with meditation.

DETAILS: The Contemplative Dance Practice (CDP) will start at 7:00 pm in the main shrine room and you may join in at any time as a mover or as a “witness while well-wishing.” A CDP host will be available to explain the practice. There will be opportunities for conversation, and browsing copies of Barbara's book This Very Moment will be available. At 8:45 pm we will raise a toast to Barbara and wrap up by 9:00 pm. Donations for the Center will be gratefully accepted.

Not too much expectation of anything. Not trying to change anything. Being here with others, others who do this. It's a worthy discipline.
