Volunteers help with several different positions to make this meal happen. The cooking is done ahead of time, so our jobs are related to serving and cleanup. There is a brief orientation before the meal to describe the different volunteer jobs to help you decide the best fit for you.
Comfortable shoes are recommended as well as clothing that you don\'t mind getting dirty.

Warriors in the World is a group of people who are connected with the Shambhala Center (members and non-members) and who are interested in volunteering in Philadelphia and/or the surrounding area. We\'re always looking for new members.
There are many charitable events and ongoing programs in and around Philadelphia that could use our help. Members of this group are informed by email about potential opportunities for us to volunteer as a group. These events happen every one to two months. As a member you’d get the information for planned outings and you could choose to join us for any that might interest you.
The goal is to have some of the events be family friendly so that these can be family-bonding as well as community-bonding activities. We screen opportunities to make sure they’re in line with Shambhala view.
Interested? Please contact Andrea C. Anastasi at aanastasi23@gmail.com to be added to the email list.
Here are some examples of volunteer opportunities we\'ve engaged with in the past...
November 2016: Our first group volunteering event was at Grace Café  a Center City soup kitchen run by Arch Street United Methodist Church. We helped serve dinner to 200 people in need that evening.
December 2016: A group of us helped out at a holiday toy and coat distribution event run by the Philadelphia Martin Luther King, Jr. Association For Nonviolence, Inc.

February 2017: At MANNA (Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance), we helped to prepare and deliver medically-appropriate meals to those who are battling life-threatening illnesses.

March 2017: At Grow Philly / Novick Family Urban Farm , we had a blast getting our hands dirty and being outside while supporting the promotion of healthy choices, nutrition, sustainability, and community engagement.

April 2017: We teamed up with the Philadelphia Streets Department and Project HOME for the 10th Annual Philly Spring Street Clean-up, where we helped to beautify a North Philadelphia neighborhood with the added benefit of enjoying the crisp spring weather and meeting neighbors from all over the city.
